The safety of children who are placed with us is paramount. We work at all times within the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and the Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015 and hope to exceed these expectations. The Local Safeguarding Procedure Manual is also at the forefront, as is the Home’s Safeguarding Policy Including Child Protection.
We believe that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and in particular protecting them from abuse and harm, is a shared responsibility and depends on effective joint working between staff, relevant agencies and their professionals.
Regularly reviewing policies and procedures sharpens our effectiveness.
All staff have a responsibility to report any suspicions they have (or a child has) or may that a child is being mistreated or harmed. All allegations are taken seriously and are reported to the Safeguarding Lead or an independent person – such as the child’s social worker, Police, or the NSPCC.
All staff understand their commitment under the home’s Whistle-blowing Policy.
Any activities that children engage in always take into account the safety of the child.
Any high-risk activity that the child chooses to pursue, for instance rock climbing or horse riding, is supervised by a qualified person. Additionally, parental consent is gained beforehand.
